From the President:

Today marks an exciting development in our identity as Oklahoma State University. We are officially launching the use of one logo for the OSU system – the “brand” logo.

This logo is widely recognized and associated regionally, nationally and internationally with Oklahoma State University, and provides the opportunity to educate, motivate and inspire wherever our brand appears. Used consistently, one logo unifies our identity and communications as we continue to tell the OSU story.

That story is the land-grant mission of teaching, research and service, and it’s never been more critical for our students, state, nation and world.

OSU’s future is the brightest of orange, and I’m extremely proud of our work in advancing this mission.

We’re one OSU, with one mission, and now one identity.

2019 Oklahoma State University Brand Update:
What you need to know

Read on for more about this strategic project and next steps for the OSU brand.

Why are we changing the logo?

Over the past year, OSU's Brand Management team has been working on a strategic effort to elevate the Oklahoma State University brand and position it for future growth. Extensive market research was used to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the various logos used by OSU including:

  • Target market research with data from more than 5,000 respondents
  • Market penetration research on our current logos
  • Design analysis of OSU’s current logos and those of our competitors and Big 12 counterparts
  • Digital audit of more than 1,600 online OSU accounts and websites

How did we decide on the “brand” logo?

The research findings demonstrated the OSU “brand” logo has the most audience recognition and prominence in the marketplace, and it is the strongest logo design among all current marks.

What about the use of Pistol Pete?
The research indicated that Pistol Pete is a beloved mascot, and we will continue to utilize him in our marketing materials.

How do I request the new logo?

OSU's campus, college and departmental communications and marketing personnel are working with the Department of Brand Management to develop new logo wordmarks for unit branding. If you would like a copy of the new logo, fill out the logo request form on the Trademarks and Licensing website.

Which logo should I use for my projects?
The official launch for OSU’s brand update is July 1. Any project that will be printed or distributed after July 1 will utilize the new "brand" logo. For formal academic- and research-related communication, faculty may use the OSU academic seal.
